C.J. FREDRICK
COVINGTON CATHOLIC, SENIOR, 6-4
* Why he's on the team: Fredrick averaged 23.1 points and 3.2 rebounds while leading the Colonels to a 35-4 season that was capped by a victory over Scott County in the Sweet 16 championship game. He was named Sweet 16 MVP. Fredrick shot 58.3 percent from the field, 48.9 percent from 3-point range (107 of 219) and 84.5 percent from the free-throw line. Was named the Co-Ninth Region Player of the Year by the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches and the Gatorade Kentucky Player of the Year. Received honorable-mention All-State honors as a junior.
* Future: Iowa University signee.
* Quotable: "If you want to write a book, C.J.'s the one to write about," Colonels coach Scott Ruthsatz said of Fredrick, who was a bench player on CovCath's freshman team three seasons ago. "He grew a little bit, but his dedication in the gym is unsurpassed. That's a kid that just followed his role from sophomore to junior year, and now here we are. He's the best player on the floor."
