A linebacker who holds the school record for most career tackles is among the former athletes to be inducted into the Covington Catholic Hall of Fame on Wednesday Jan. 24 at The Gardens of Park Hills.

Sam Flynn, a 2007 graduate, recorded a school record 465 tackles as a four-year starter at linebacker for the Colonels. He also set records for most tackles in a game (31) and most solo tackles in a season (167) in 2006 when CovCath won the Class 3A state championship.

This year's list of inductees also includes 1992 graduate Jeff Studer, who ranks among the school's career scoring leaders in basketball with 1,255 points. He was a senior guard on the CovCath team that won the 1992 9th Region tournament and finished with a 31-4 record.

Chris Davis, an all-state distance runner on teams that won three regional championships in track and one in cross country, will also be added to the CovCath Hall of Fame. In track, the 2002 graduate won five regional titles in three different events. He was also a regional champion in cross country.

Tom Dusing and Randy Ellison will be inducted into the hall of fame as contributors. Ellison, a 1979 graduate, was booster club president for two years and upgraded facilities around the school and stadium. Dusing, a 1967 graduate, has been a member of the booster club for more than 25 years, working in the concession stands and at the weekly bingo.

A special video presentation about the CovCath Hall of Fame will take place from 6 p.m. through dinner. The inductions will begin at 7:45 p.m. with 1998 graduate Joe Danneman, sports director for Fox 19 television, serving as master of ceremonies

Tickets to the induction ceremony are $50 and can be purchased online at www.covcath.org or by calling the school at (859) 491-2247. Please send an email to Tony Bacigalupo (tbacigalupo@covcath.org) if you have any questions.
