CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Former Middletown star Kyle Schwarber contributed immediately to the Chicago Cubs success his rookie season in 2015, hitting 16 HR and notching 43 RBI in just 69 games. The outfielder/catcher and the fourth overall draft pick in 2014 then tore his ACL and LCL in the third game of the 2016 season.

Now another local product has entrenched himself in a major league lineup. Called up to the Tampa Bay Rays following the All-Star break, Luke Maile is hitting .194 with 5 RBI in 13 games.

This past week, the 25-year-old had a key two-run single in a Rays 5-3 victory over the Yankees on Sunday and he delivered an RBI double to help lift Tampa to a 3-1 win over the Dodgers on July 27.

The Covington Catholic grad and former University of Kentucky catcher also made his mark defensively, throwing out 50-percent of baserunners.
