They are now invited to participate in the 5-week residential program this coming summer on one of three host campuses: Morehead State University, Murray State University, or Northern Kentucky University.
From GSP: "The Governor's Scholars Program strives to enhance Kentucky's next generation of civic and economic leaders. Established in 1983, the program provides academic and personal growth through the balance of a strong liberal arts program with a full co-curricular and residential life experience. Students must complete an application and compete with others from across the state. Those selected attend the program free of charge."
Covington Catholic is also proud to announce that the following students have been accepted to the 2016 Kentucky Governor's School for the Arts:
| Grade School / Parish | Parents |
Griffin Lamb | St. Paul | Kevin & Laura Lamb |
Joe Suetholz | St. Agnes | Steven & Ellen Suetholz |
From the Kentucky GSA website: "Every summer for the past twenty-eight years, GSA and our faculty of professional artist/educators have guided over two hundred of Kentucky's finest young artists through three weeks of incredibly intense (and incredibly fun) arts instruction (since 2014, on the campus of Centre College in Danville). GSA auditions promising high school sophomores and juniors in nine different arts disciplines: Architecture+Design, Creative Writing, Dance, Drama, Instrumental Music, Musical Theatre, New Media, Visual Art and Vocal Music. For three solid weeks, the students live, breathe, eat and sleep the arts. It's a thrilling, often life-changing experience, as they meet new friends, explore their creativity, and discover new things about who they are and who they can be in the future." Griffin was selected in the area of New Media and Joe was selected for Visual Art.
The 2016 GSA program will be held June 19 – July 9 at Centre College.
