Tanner Fangman has been named a National Merit Finalist by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. In 2012, roughly 1.5 million then juniors across the country took the PSAT/NMSQT. Of those juniors, only 16,000 or 1% were named National Merit Semifinalists. Recently, 15,000 were named Finalists and now have an opportunity to continue in the competition for scholarships worth more than $32 million that will be offered over the next few months.
Tanner Fangman is a member of the football team, president of the National English Honor Society, and active community volunteer. He is ranked number one in his class and earned the highest possible composite score, 36, on the ACT. He plans to study engineering.
Principal Robert Rowe commented, “Tanner has worked hard to earn this recognition. He is a leader in his class and is well-respected by his peers and the faculty and staff of Covington Catholic.”
